Over 17 million people in the United States have diabetes a chronic, debilitating disease affecting every organ system.  Only 5-10% of people with diabetes have Type 1 Diabetes, also known as juvenile diabetes.

Type 1 Diabetes means that their pancreas does not produce insulin.  Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert food into energy needed for daily life.  Without insulin, their blood sugar can go too high and lead to complication or death.  On the contrary, their blood sugar can also go to low leading to complication or death.

 Insulin provides life support, but
insulin is NOT a cure. Every 3 minutes someone dies from diabetes, the leading cause of kidney failure, blindness, heart failure, amputations, nerve damage, heart attack and stroke. There is no cure for diabetes and they inject insulin several times per day in order to stay alive.

4 of the 4 siblings want to outlive the cure for diabetes.  A portion of all Telefingers proceeds benefit various diabetes organizations dedicated to finding a functional cure for diabetes.
